Trip program –

D1: Meeting by the end of the day at the typical village of Sotres (1045m); hotel.

D2: From Invernales del Texu to Vega de Urrielo (4h30), we follow a trail with some exciting moments on the edge of cliffs and astonishing panoramas. Lodging at Naranjo hut (1959m).

D3: We start descending towards Bulnes valley, crossing the river Balcosín near a waterfall. Bulnes (647m) (3h30) is the most isolated village in these mountains with no access by road. Lodging in hut.

D4: We continue to descend to Cares gorge, a spectacular trail carved on the rock and hedged by stone walls. After the Los Collados belvedere we follow the Cares river passing by several tunnels and reach Caín (460m). Lodging in hut.

D5: We return to Cares gorge and take the trail that leads us up to Vega de Ario (1630m). Then down to La Ercina and Enol lakes with a stop at majada de Las Bobias with beautiful stone houses (7h). Lodging at hut Cabaña de Pastores, near the lake.

D6: We ascend to Ordiales belvedere (1730m) and then return to Enol lake (4h), from where we take a transport to Cangas de Onis. Hotel and rest of the day free.

D7: After breakfast we visit Santillana del Mar, a very typical village classified historic national monument.

Difficulty: Moderate.

Transport: For those travelling by train, the organization may provide a transport between Bilbao and Sotres on the afternoon of D1.

Picos de Europa is located in Asturias about 450 km NW of Madrid.

Booking Conditions -

Price - Valid in 2004.

Includes: all accomodation mentioned above, all meals from D1 diner to D7 breakfast, all local transport, Spanish guide.

Does not include: transport to and from Sotres, personal equipment, visits on free time, accomodation on D7, tips, single supplement, travel insurance.

Group: min 5 persons, max 8.

Luggage: Each participant will carry his/her own personal equipment, 6-8kg in total, no sleeping bag needed.

Program: Depending on weather conditions, the groups’ condition or other justifiable, the guide may alter the program.

Equipment: Trekking boots, 50-60ltr rucksack, waterproof gear, etc.

After your booking you will receive a Trip Information sheet which includes a detailed recommended equipment list.
