Trip program
D1: Meet in Nairobi early morning. Departure
for the Samburu Park and camp on Ewaso Nyiro river bank,
where we enjoy a very calm environment.
D2: The river Ewaso Nyiro concentrates a rich diversity of animal species: elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, zebras, monkeys among many others. We spend the day on safari watching the fauna on Samburu and Buffalo Springs parks.
D3: After a morning safari, we leave for Maralal, a typical village inhabited by semi-nomads Samburu peoples and a meeting place for Samburu, Turkana and Rendile tribes.
D4: We continue across a dry landscape of volcanic origin until we reach Lake Turkana, where we will see various types of animals, specially giraffes and zebras. The lake contains Kenya's largest colony of crocodiles and you shouldnt swim without consulting the guide. Camp near the lake.
D5: Boat ride to watch flamingoes and other fishing birds, as well as the local fishermen at work; the afternoon is free for you to explore Loyangelani, an oasis town by the lake where the people use the camel for porterage.
D6: Morning departure for Maralal. We stop at South Horr, in a beautiful green valley amidst high cliffs, and at Baragoi, a typical village.
D7: Departure for Lake Baringo, famous for its vast number of birds, more than 450 different species have been detected. Boat ride in the afternoon.
D8: We continue to Lake Bogoria where we will hike on its banks (3h), passing by some curious hot water springs and geysers. Birdwatchers will be delighted as well with the stroll. Lodging at Fishermans camp, on Lake Naivashas bank.
D9: Hells Gate National Park is located below Mount Longonot (2885m). Here we will hike to explore its impressive volcanic canyons
D10: We continue towards south reaching Narok in the afternoon. Camp on river Taleks bank.
D11 and 12: Maasai Mara. This is the most famous Kenyan park. We spend here two delightful days touring the park searching for the most exciting beasts, namely lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos. In July and August we may enjoy observing the turbulent yearly migration of the gnus who come by the thousands from the Serengeti park in Tanzania.
D13: Return to Nairobi, hotel.
D14: End of program.

Guiding: Kenyan guide speaking English.

Program: Depending on weather conditions, the groups condition or other justifiable, the guide may alter the program.
Vaccines: None mandatory; we recommend the yellow fever and malaria prevention.
Equipment: Trekking boots, sleeping bag (3-4 seasons), waterproof gear, etc.
